2026 Tour Summary

The KCIBA President’s Tour this year saw 35 players and 11 guests travel to Leicestershire, in January.
We played against Northamptonshire on the way up, then played Leicestershire, the EIBA and Warwickshire, and were finally hosted by Watford Indoor Bowls Club on our return journey. We were successful in four of our matches, losing narrowly by 7 points to Leicestershire. Our hosts at Northampton and District Indoor Bowls Club, Melton Mowbray Indoor Bowls Club, Thornfield Indoor Bowls Club and Watford looked after us well and made the bowls all the more enjoyable.

Home Counties League Update

Dear Kent Bowler,
I am writing to you to try and clear up misunderstanding and misinformation regarding the Home Counties League. There were 6 counties involved in the league at the start of the season, however, 2 counties have withdrawn as they feel they cannot fulfil all the fixtures due to clashes with other fixtures or difficulties in raising a team. Another county failed to play its initial game as at that time they were unable to field a team, but are keen to continue participating.
EIBA England Trial Application Forms

EIBA are now taking nominations for players to trial for the England Teams competing in the British Isles International Series in 2025. The appropriate nomination forms are attached for your consideration and can also be found on the EIBA website under International Fixtures 2025-2026. Please note the deadline for Under 18’s is September 30th, and October 17th for all others.
England Under 25 Squad Victory

Congratulations to the England U25 Squad with their victory. in the UK International series at Northampton IBC over the weekend. 5 players from Kent County were part of the winning team and they are pictured in the below photo from left to right….. Joe Vanderpeer, Isaac Jenner, Harry Duffield, Josh Austin and Joe Sanford. Well done gents!

Kent Under 25's Crowned as 2023/2024 EIBA National Inter County Double Rink Champions

After a dominant display by the Kent Under 25 they have been crowned 2023/2024 EIBA National Inter County Double Rink Champions, they were 8 - 0 up after one end after both fours picked up 4's and then it was comfortable gap until around 10 ends when over the two rinks they picked up a 6 and a 5 and knocked the resolve out of the plucky Lincolnshire team.

- The Council meeting scheduled for 6th March has been moved to the 13th of March at Mote Park 7.30pm.

Presentation Dinner Cancelled

Please note that the proposed Presentation Dinner to have been held at Thanet IBC on Saturday, May 13 has been cancelled.
The presentation of trophies and prizes for all county finalists will take place immediately after the completion of the last event on Finals Day Sunday, April 23 at Ashford IBC.

County Competitions Finals Day (2019)

I have arranged a County Finals Day on SUNDAY FEBRUARY 13 AT THANET IBC.
Details of the schedule for the day will be announced once all finalists are known.
My thanks goes to the Committee and members of Thanet for allowing the County to use their facilities to complete these competitions.
Presentation of awards and prizes will follow the completion of the last game by 2019 /20 President Paul Proctor.

Council Meeting Cancelled

The KCIBA Council Meeting this Wednesday 6th October has been cancelled due to the fuel shortage as many of the Officers and Delegates can not get enough fuel. We hope to hold this meeting on November 10th at Mote Park.

2019 Suspended County Competitions

I can confirm that these competitions will be completed and the arrangements are as follows:
All outstanding games up to and including the semi-final must be completed by 30 November 2021.
All semi-finals to be played on a neutral green date, venue and time to be agreed between both teams.
All named entrants are to confirm ASAP to me that they are able to play. To assist with this I will allow a further one substitute if necessary with the only requirement being that they have not played in the competition in 2019.
Players changing clubs or who have not affiliated for 2021 are eligible to play given that these are 2019 competitions.

Re-Scheduled National Finals

The EIBA have now finalised hosting arrangements for its re-scheduled 2019-2020 National Finals at Nottingham IBC. We are pleased to confirm that spectators will be able to attend the finals but numbers will be limited to 100 per day. In addition, tickets will need to be purchased in advance from the EIBA. Tickets will go on sale from Tuesday 31st August 2021 and are £3.00 per day. To purchase call 01664 481 900 or email andreaclark@eiba.co.uk
There are options to purchase a whole event pass and weekly passes.

2021 AGM Proposal

I would like to propose that the KCIBA in all its forms, change from white trousers at matches to black.
My reasons behind this suggestion are that many sports are changing their image to modernise their sport, cricket being the best example. Bowls needs to attract more of the younger element to make it more attractive to play. White trousers are traditional but perhaps it is time for some updating, Changing to black would mean that players could travel to matches without feeling conspicuous and not have to change at the venue.
Change of Date for AGM

The KCIBA Annual General Meeting that was to be held on held on Saturday 5th June 2021 starting at 10.30am at our Headquarters Mote Indoor Bowls Club has been postponed due to the fact that Mote Park cannot accommodate us due to numbers until after June 21st 2021. County Competitions 2021/22

With the expectation of a normal indoor bowling season, later this year individuals may now download the County Competition Entry form for the 2021/22 season. Please complete and forward to your CLUB SECRETARY OR NOMINATED CLUB OFFICIAL together with payment by JULY 18TH 2021.
WILL EACH CLUB OFFICIAL DEALING WITH THE ADMINISTRATION FOR THESE COMPETITIONS PLEASE CONTACT ME BY EMAIL AND I WILL FORWARD TO YOU THE SUMMARY SHEET THAT WILL NEED TO BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED WITH THE CLUB ENTRIES.
As for the outstanding 2019/20 competitions, these will also be completed next season.

County Competitions Update

Given the present and forthcoming restrictions due to COVID-19, the decision has been made NOT to run any County Competitions for the 2020/21 season.
With regard to the outstanding 2019/20 competitions which have been completed to virtually the semi-final stage, if it is possible to complete them before the end of the season then the County will do so.
A further review will be undertaken early in the New Year.

County Competitions 2020/21

Due to the continued uncertainty surrounding the issues with COVID, which will see a drastic reduction in Rink availability throughout the Clubs within the County, it is regret that that I will have no option other than to suspend the possibility of running County Competitions for the forthcoming season until at least the end of the calendar year. I will be reviewing the situation again in December to see whether there is any possibility of holding some county competitions from January through to the end of the season. A further update will then be issued.
In respect of the outstanding 2019/20 competitions which are at the semi final stage I will endeavour to get these completed. I will be in contact with all players involved in these games in due course.

Presidents Tour

Due to the uncertainty for the future re the Corona Virus the Senior Vice President has cancelled his Presidents Tour to Worcester in January 2021.
It was thought this was the safest option for all. No one knows what is going to happen in the months ahead.

Standardised Weeks Calendar

Every 5 years the calendar has a 53rd week due to the leap year, so this year is no exception. The Winter Competition Indoor programme normally starts during week 40 as no National Winter Competitions shall take place before 1st day of October in each year as per competition rule 1.6.
